Korea has a very distinct culture and does many things that are very different from the Western lifestyle. In fact, some might even say odd. However, in a short time you will find yourself adjusting to the culture and doing some things that you would never think of doing at home-never mind enjoy.
Seoul is a bustling urban city with modern skyscrapers, amazing transportation and a thriving nightlife. But besides the quick development of this city, Seoul still holds on to a lot of it’s traditional charm. Visit the following places in Seoul to see the best of both worlds.
When people think about South Korea they think of Seoul…and that’s about it. However, this country has a lot more to offer than just one city.
Seoul is amazing but my absolute favourite city in Korea is Busan. Busan is a big city by the ocean and has a more laid back feel to it. Even though it is a city there is also a lot of nature to explore in and around Busan- it’s the best of both worlds!
Gyeongju used to be the capital of South Korea from 57 BC – 935 AD. Talk about ancient! With many world heritage sites this city is often called the “museum without walls.”
Gyeongju is one of the most popular places to visit in Korea- and for good reason. I myself have visited many times and have created a list of sites to see in this historical and beautiful city.
On the famous Haeundae beach in Busan thousands of people gather to welcome the rising sun of the New Year in the most beautiful way possible. Red about my experience and why you have to see it for yourself.
inju Namgang Yudeung (Lantern) Festival is the the most famous lantern festival in South Korea and happens in October. The festival takes place in Jinju at the Jinjuseong Fortress, along the Namgang river. The festival displays giant lanterns all around the fortress and on the river.
Situated between Gyeongju and Busan many people seem to skip over Ulsan. I lived in this city for over a year and so I can give an honest recommendation of the best things to do and see in this city. Check it out and see if you want to make a stop in this often overlooked city.
If you are looking for a little excitement in South Korea then Herb Hillz is the perfect place. Herb Hillz markets itself as an eco-theme park but I would describe it more as a high ropes course. With high ropes and zip lining you can chose either option or a course that combines the two.
